Garden Club calendar launch
By Anne Hilton Thursday, October 10 2013
On Saturday, September 28 the Garden Club of Trinidad celebrated 20 years in existence with a tea and launch of the Club’s 2014 calendar and pocket-book sized calendar in the home (and garden) of Mr and Mrs John Carrington in St Ann’s.
Present at the function were Former Minister of Tourism, now Minister of Minister of Transport, Stephen Cadiz, Zalayhar Hassanali, widow of former president of Trinidad and Tobago Noor Hassanali, and of course club members and guests.
Members admired the garden before the formalities when, to mark the 20th anniversary the club donated funds to (among other charities) the Girl Guides Association, The Dyslexia Association, the Animal Welfare Network and the St Vincent de Paul Society.
Current president of the club Richard Kong paid tribute to founding member Dr Johnny Lee, and to past presidents Kathleen Boswell-Inniss, Dick Hobday, Sterling Frost and Chauncy Moll. After the formalities, members and guests took tea, or sipped soft drinks, sampled sandwiches, cakes and tidbits.
The Garden Club’s 2014 Calendar (and handy pocket calendar) are now on sale at outlets of RIK Book Services Ltd, Ishmael Khan, Pop In, Rainy Days, Craft Creators, Bambu, Maison Jardin, Hibiscus Nursery and San Antonio Farms – or call 676-0128 if you need more information.
The calendar and pocket calendar make a useful and much appreciated Christmas gift for friends and families overseas – make sure to get yours before they are all sold out.
