Outing to San Antonio Farm (Mar24)

What a fairytale setting it was at San Antonio Farms last Sunday 17th March.  Members and their guests had not realised the treat that was in store for them.  The conservatory with its exquisite collection of lush green plants.  And then the joy of touring the garden with nearly every imaginable shrub, tree and flowering plant – absolutely beautiful and even reminiscent of a botanic garden.

To further contribute to the afternoon there was an informative talk and demonstration on garden irrigation by Charles Porter.  Very pertinent to the very hot dry season we are now experiencing. A huge thank you to Charles.

Ladies, in their Easter bonnets (with all the frills), were another delight and most entertaining.  The prize winners were Simone, Moira, Janice and Jackie.  Well done ladies, on your creativity.

The showbench was anything pink, plants or cut flowers.   Simone won first prize, best grown and members’ choice with her fabulous medinilla plant.   Sonia was first with her gorgeous cut shampoo ginger and Jennifer second with her miniature pink ixora in a pot.  Congratulations ladies.

Members and friends mixed and mingled and thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.  Our sincere thanks to Peter and Chancy Moll for their generosity in offering their nursery plants at a discounted price and for allowing us to visit their little piece of heaven.
