Meeting at Lyn Murray's Garden
Lyn’s prayer was answered when the rain stopped for those eager to see her beautifully landscaped garden. Bursting with colour, variety and in pristine condition her garden was admired and complimented on by all. Lyn started In August this year to remove, replant and in general make several changes to her favourite space. And the result is wondrous.
An eventful afternoon was in store for everyone and next on the agenda was paying tribute to Mrs. Kathleen Boswell-Inniss. A long standing and Honourary member of The Garden Club, Kathleen, who is now in her nineties, was the Secretary of the Club for many years. She is also the recipient of the Chaconia Medal for service to her country. A floral arrangement was presented to her as we all cheered and wished her well. We are so proud that she is a member of our garden club family.
Up next was renowned wildlife photographer, Roger Neckles who presented the prizes won in our recently concluded photo competition – Wildlife in the Garden. Much to the interest of everyone, Roger commented on each entry, giving his professional opinion and advice. There were twenty-six entries. Third prize went to Gerard Farfan, Second Prize to Simone de la Bastide and First Prize to Jennifer Knaggs.
Last but not least was our Showbench – Dish Gardens. There were eight entries – all exquisite miniature gardens in various shapes and sizes of containers. First Prize went to Jackie Fung-Kee-Fung as well as Members Choice. Second Prize to Allison de Montrichard. Third Prize to Marion D’Almada. Best Grown to Sandra Carrington. Congratulations and well done ladies.
Refreshments were served and everyone gathered around Lyn’s spectacular Christmas Village in wonderment and admiration. It really is a sight to behold. A true labour of love that takes her approximately four weeks to assemble. A Christmas Wonderland.
Sincere thanks Lyn for the special treat that aptly describes your garden meeting. We could not have asked for more.
