Meeting at Simone Taylor's Garden

What a grand turnout there was to visit Simone’s garden.  Members and friends arrived expecting to see the creme de la creme of gardens and no one was disappointed.  From perrywinkles to exotic double gingers, torch lilies and a thunbergia vine that had everyone in awe;  Simone’s garden undoubtedly has a wide variety of flowering plants, shrubs, vines and trees.  Comments such as “magical, stunning, oasis of serenity, beautiful sanctuary”  were the proof of her little piece of heaven.

Simone’s garden has evolved over the past forty-nine years and is a true testament to the love and hard work she has devoted to her special space.  She is renowned for her magnificent floral arrangements and all flowers and greenery are carefully hand picked from her garden.
Earl Blackman gave a very informative talk on photography comparing the use of cell phones and cameras.  This coincided with the club’s recently concluded photo competition.

There were twelve entries of begonias in the showbench – all beautiful specimens.  The judges took some time to decide.  First prize and Members’ choice went to Simone.  Second prize and Best Grown to Sophia Dillon and Third prize to Jennifer Augustus.    Well done ladies.
Nigel Russel-Hosein was the lucky winner of the raffle which was a beautiful flowering thunbergia.

After a delicious tea some chose to take another stroll through the garden, lingering until the sun started to fade.
Our grateful thanks Simone for sharing your lovely garden and being the perfect hostess.
