Meeting at Waterville Estate

It was a sunny clear morning. A perfect day for a trip to Santa Cruz valley. The club’s venue for our February meeting was the beautiful 10 acre Waterville Estate, made possible with the kind permission of the O’Farrell family. Waterville Estate is a lovely venue for weddings and other functions with a capacity of up to 300 persons.

The meeting was very well attended with many members, quite a few guests and we had the great pleasure of welcoming a new member, Leigh-Marie Skinner. Wonderful to have you with us Leigh-Marie.

The show bench was Orchids. Thanks to Simone Taylor, we had the pleasure of seeing some beautiful specimens.

Thank you to Chancy Moll too, for stepping in at short notice to give us a talk on orchids when our booked speaker became unwell. It was a wonderful talk! With Chancy’s knowledge and orator skills, we are all riveted.

The Picture Quiz was very popular this month. Thanks all, for taking part. Stay tuned for the electronic version that will be posted soon.

Our raffle was popular too, with Cheryl Lee Loy running away with the prize! Again! Congratulations Cheryl.

Tea Party tickets were on sale too for our Tea Party at Mille Fleurs. Remember all profits go towards the garden renovation at Mille Fleurs in which the club is very instrumental. Please get a group together for this wonderful event. There would be door prizes and a raffle, along with an auction of an original piece of art, donated by Horizons Art Gallery. Thank you to Cheryl Blanc and Richard Gordon. There will be live entertainment by Stefan Roach on guitar too. Tickets can be purchased from any committee member.

After the meeting we all enjoyed delicious finger foods and some liquid refreshments and some members took a walk around a bit of the estate.

Our next meeting is at Sharon Hart’s home in Bayshore on Saturday, March 18th and the show bench is Anthuriums.

See you there.
